Door Hinge Replacement

I have an early Bronco with two of the hinge bolts broken off in the front door post. Is there a way I can get the plate out of the front door post?

If you can get at the broken bolt, use vise grips and some heat to try and remove the bolt. Melt a little wax on the bolt as you heat it. It should back out. If that won't work, or the bolt broken off flush with the plate, just drill out the old bolt. Then clean out the holes with a tap. You shouldn't need to remove the plate from the jamb. You can place a door bolt in one of the other good holes and tighten it so the plate doesn't move around while you are working on it.

You could try welding a nut on the end of the bolt, if there is enough of the bolt sticking out. The heat from the welding will help in loosening the bolt.
