Does the 7.3 gasoline engine utilize only throttle body fueling, or does it also use direct injection? I thought it was throttle body only. Is it necessary or desirable to add a PCV circuit oil vapor catch can?
TBI went out of style in the 80's for Ford V8's, GM still used it through the 90's if not longer. Pretty much every non DI engine is SPFI.
Wont be too much longer before I tear into my 2014 Flex and find out just how good the Ford patent is for their self cleaning DI valve system is. I have to replace the chain tensioners which requires pulling the intakes off, so I will be able to inspect all the intake valves.
who wants to replace chain tensioner every 10yr. should of got yourself a toyota
Mrs nilly,
I hate to tell you ma'am but Toyota isn't now what they once were. The 3.5 2GR-FKS Toyota needs the timing cover resealed, have needle bearings that need replacing on Tacoma 4wds. I own a 23 Tacoma and they are FAR from maintenance free.

Had a Toyota, 2007 RAV4. It needed a full timing chain replacement at 178K miles. After sitting a day, starting it required bumping the key a few times or it would rattle like it wanted to blow up. Toyota is no more reliable at 180K than Ford is. That car is on its last legs too, was lucky to sell it as it has so much rust it can't be lifted by its lift points. The Flex Ecoboost just rattles a little after sitting a week, but if driven every day no rattles at all. My Flex can easily go 10 more years and still look like new.
