Help! 2005 Excursion Key out & Door open windows work?!
We have a 2005 Excursion all the power still works after removing key and opening door. Power windows, radio, etc all still work! Ideas, maybe ignition switch is bad?
Thanks
Relay #306 is the delayed accessory relay, if it's stuck on it will cause that to happen. You can jump the terminals so it stays on all the time. I had an F350 where the IPC died, I had to jump the #306 fuse to be able to close the windows.
Have you recently changed out the gauge cluster or the BCM? Swapping any electronic module (and the gauge cluster counts too) can cause weird stuff to happen.
In these trucks when you open the door it sends a signal to the BCM basically telling it the door is open, the BCM then has to decide what actions to take ( like turn on the interior lights, turn off the radio, turn off the power windows etc) and the BCM then sends the appropriate signals either to other modules or to relays. Obviously there are more than a couple places these communications can go sideways.
I had a very similar set of things happen (except my running board lights were also affected) when I swapped the original gauge cluster out in my 05 limited Ex for one from a manual transmission truck (because I’d converted my Ex to a manual transmission and wanted it to look factory). Ended up just putting the original cluster back in for the time being. Maybe one day I’ll dig deep into Forscan and figure out how to put the as built data from the original cluster into the manual trans cluster.
