Rusted Bump Stop Contact Point
My truck was no different. The bottom was gone so the contact pad was useless. I cut out the rotted parts with a grinder and an air cut off tool. I cleaned the area up with a needle scaler. I measured up what I needed to do and fabed a bottom section from an old section of frame I had from rebuilding the back half. I welded it up and sprayed all the new clean metal with cold galvanizing, old rusty areas with Rustoleum Rust Converter and top coated everything with Rustoleum Satin Black. It is a tight area to weld and I just used scrap metal I cleaned up so the welds aren't neat but I got penetration so it will hold. I did not weld the back partly because I did not want to lay under there and weld, but I will go with the excuse that it needs to drain. Yep, that sounds good.
