7.3 throttle pedal switch fix!!

On my 2000 7.3, I changed the pedal assembly 7-8 years ago with a new ford oem unit. A couple weeks ago, I got the random no throttle response from idle again. Of course I couldn’t duplicate it when Hooked to my scanner but the little switch seemed like the likely culprit. Even cycling it a couple hundred times and watching the response on scanner, it never acted up.
The oem unit seems to be not available anymore and I really don’t have a lot of faith in aftermarket units. I remember years ago there was a switch you could buy for a couple bucks but of course it is no longer available either.
I got my old pedal assembly out from years ago and pulled the switch and started looking for a suitable replacement. I found one on Amazon.
Exact same dimensions. Only differences is that it has 3 wires so it can be used for NO or NC and the pigtail exits from the side corner rather than the bottom. $10 for 2 of them seemed like a no brainer to try.
I finally put it in today and it works fine. I don’t think it is as high quality unit as the oem but if it lasts a while for 5 bucks I’m good. It isn’t hard to change.
taking the unit off is self explanatory with a t20 driver. You have to grind off the molded plastic to remove the oem switch from the bracket and will need some 2mm screws (I think I used 16mm length) to attach the new switch to the bracket. A full kit of 2mm screws of various sizes with washers and nuts is also on Amazon for about $6.
the 3 wires on the new switch are blue, black and grey. Clip the blue wire off or tie it out of the way, it’s not needed. I soldered and heat shrunk the grey and black wires to the oem wires (doesn’t matter which color)
you could crimp connect them I guess but I would leave some extra length if i did that so they could be held out of the way.
I didn’t take pics of the progress but the finished product pics are below.
the switch description on Amazon is :

Joinfworld Waterproof Micro Limit Switch with Hinge Lever 6A 12V DC Lever Microswitch SPDT 3 PIN 5A 250VAC with Pre-Wired - 2 Pack

I hope this helps someone else save a couple hundred bucks.

OEM pedal assembly isn't available now? Yikes. This is good to know though in case I even run up on this little gotcha.

Now we need to find an aftermarket solution for the APP potentiometer too.

Still working

Been driving it a bit and no issues so far with this fix.
even decided to replace the fuel sending unti and ditch the umbrella pickup so I have a working gauge for the first time in 14 years
