i have a new to me 1989 f350 460, i’ll start it for the first time and it’ll start fine, but once i drive it for a minute and i turn it off and go to turn it back on it’ll sit there and crank for like 15 seconds, once it fires it’ll go up to 2k then settle back down, my thoughts were maybe a vacuum leak or something because it’s also idling in park around 1000rpm and goes to 800 or so in gear, i don’t have much experience with this so i was wondering your opinion on what my issue could be
Check your ignition timing with the SPOUT connector disconnected. It should be 8-10° btdc.
Connect a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel pressure port on the engine and see what your fuel pressure is doing during the hard starts.
Remove your ECU from the driver side firewall through the wheel well and remove the ECU top cover. Inspect the circuit board for leaking capacitors.
Dying PIP sensors can lead to hard starts.
