Wink What do you guys think

This Saturday I'm going to put a Flowmaster 50 series with a either a 2.5 or a 3` pipe on 4.2 V6 2001 f150, what could I expect and would that be the right Flowmaster system for that engine.

Research it first Duane.

http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/cg...ml?id=K6AqUmvi

I'd go with the straight 40 series, no Delta. 1 in 2 out the back. I got the 40 series with the Delta, and it's too quiet.

Check out the link above, it gives a description of each one.

Awe heck,

I've tried posting the link 15 different ways and it just won't work.

Go to flowmastermufflers.com and click on "mufflers" on the left hand side toward the bottom. It will bring up and display all of their mufflers. The 50 series is even more quiet than the 40 Delta series, which is already waayyyy to quiet. I guess it depends on what your looking for, if it's a nice sound, you won't get it from the 50.

I actually would prefer the regular 40 over the Delta 40. mine is too quiet.

Actually I had called Flowmaster and they had even sugested to go with the 50 due to the fact it's a 4.2 V6.

I went with the delta 40 series flowmaster single in 2 1/2 and dual out 2 1/4 to three in tips, quite happy with it. Its sounds great, acelerating, or down shifting With the windows rolled up at idial it is relitivily quite.

Yes, they suggested the larger 50 series because it's supposed to keep interior noise levels down. And it does exactly that, but it is also much more quite on the exterior also. The 50 series is much much larger than the 40. The do this intentially to keep noise levels down, that is the only reason for its larger size. It doesn't flow any additional exhaust. But if you want quiet, than that's what you'll get with the 50. It just depends what you want.

Remember, when you ask a manufacturer their opinion, they are always going to take the safe route, because they don't want you calling them up later and complaining that they suggested the 40 and that's it's too loud and your kids don't like it. Nobody ever calls the manufacturer back and complains that it's too quiet. They always take the CYA aproach.

However, if deep throated rumbling is what you seek, than the 50 is not for you.

Busa01 nice pics I've routedmy exhaust infront of the right rear tire. I thought it would be a bit different. It also saved a bit of money on labour, parts. They used the stock hangers in the stock location. The only draw back is the extra polishing I have to do to keep the tips shinny.

Well, you can see by my pictures how much polishing I do....mine are dirty dirty dirty. I was going to run mine out the side to, but I let the stupid mechanic talk me out of it. He just kept saying that it would be too loud out the side and convinced me not to do it. I'm kicking myself now because it's too quiet.

Three inch tips are just right, I think they resinate the sound perfectly. They look cool, If you get tips I would go with Stainless steel. They may need to be polished more, but they wont pit and corode like crome tips, I went with magnaflow tips They look great.

Awe man James your pictures are hilarious, the very same thing happend to me last year out side of California Motor Speedway after a NASCAR race, I had acidently had parked my F150 on some very soft sand and awe man! I had about 1000 people who owned Chevy's and Dodges talking crap to me, it took a F250 to save my day and pull me out but hey I dont have a 4x4 and that just happens.
