No the dealer did not tell me anything, surprise surprise. No, the manual says nothing about detecting an auto regen event or what to do while it is happening. I looked in the manual before I ask the question. Again no surprise about manual saying nothing. I hoped it would just be a simple question with a maybe simple answer. Thanks.
But isn’t the point that people are skirting around is if you turn off the truck while it is in a regen you are not going to blow the truck up.
, it wont blow up the truck, it just doesn't complete a full regen cycle and if the cycle had just started, then it will restart once temps reach a set point, but will take longer and use more fuel.

And two ways to tell without any third party options from the dash (Sound, smell, etc are other things too).
DPF% will drop very fast - less than 10 minutes.
Your MPG real time meter with average as a digit will drop drastically so even cruising on level terrain at 65-70 it will be in the low teens/single digits on that gauge for those 10 minutes, it will immediately return to normal as soon as its done.
When it hits 0%, I'll drive for 3 to 5 minutes after that if needed, but so far the trips are in my favor that it never happens close to ending a trip, just within 5 mile of stopping it ends.
I fill up when the gauge hits between 1/3 and 1/4 of a tank, seems to work out pretty well for getting a regen every fill up.

I've never paid a moment's notice to regen. Never altered driving behavior, kept it running after it reaches destination, or bought a monitor to track when it is about to happen. It is an automatic system that I let do its thing.
