The original antenna I had was a radio shack 54" magnet mount 5/8 wave ham/cb antenna It was nice, but I forgot to take it off of the car one night and it got froze. Ruined the load coils in it.
hey, rebel, where do you have your whips mounted? on the inside of your bed? my big problem is that i have an access roll up tonneau cover, unless you can clamp it on between the bed and the cab somehow, i cant really find a way to put some whips on, which i really want

mine are bolted to the front of my toolbox actually. the whips came with mirror mounts so i just took the front half of the mount and bolted it to my toolbox. i would have just mounted them to the bed but i couldnt fit them in there with the toolbox and i didnt wanna get rid of it. probably the only way for you to mount yours is to the bed, but make sure its on the highest part of the bed so that way you get higher above the cab.
theres no close up view but you can kinda get an idea of my setup by lookin at the pics in my gallery.
Yeah, i need some ideas on where to mount some if i get them, cause the tonneau covers up the bed, but the side rails and the stake pockets are open, so maybe somehow there, but i guess i'll have to brainstorm on it
Using mirror mount brackets you can mount your whips on the cab just above the bed. You'd have to drill holes in the cab, but they'd be covered and you could seal them from the inside.
You could mount them even higher at each end of the window.
You would be better off using the stake holes if you can. Firestik and others make a stake hole mount. With it, you can mount your antenna either on the inside or outside of the bed.
