Good evening, I just purchased a 2024 f250 7.3. I pull an enclosed trailer everyday. I have lights on the inside of the trailer with a switch to turn on and off. My Chevy (previous truck) the hot wire on the 7way plug was hot all the time. On this truck it’s only hot when you plug it for the first time. Once you turn the truck off and then drive it again the power is gone.
does anyone know how to fixed this?
I am new to the ford world so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
While I am not an expert, I believe that a Ford disconnects the 12v hot to that wire when you are not towing. That is to prevent a travel trailer from drawing the truck battery down when parked.
There should be power on that as long as the truck is running. I've used it for powering an 12V cooler in the bed multiple times with a 7-pin to accessory plug like this.

Something isn't right. While Ford doesn't leave the 12v connection in the 7 pin hot all the time, it should be hot once you restart the truck.
I bet upon restart and the lights no working after trucks is started and running, upon unluging the 7way and plugging it back in again, the lights (12V acc power) will again work. There is a TSB and a thread on here talking about it. The thread started said it solved his issues I had the TSB performed and it did not solve mine. I need 12v ACC power for the air ride trailer suspenstion and hydraulic disk brake pump. May just run one of the upfitters back and tap into the 12V ACC power wire so I can manually add power (upfitter turned on).
I believe that after initial connection the trailer battery charge circuit in only active with the driver’s door closed. This may be to prevent truck’s alternator or Battery Monitoring System from freaking out.
