Ranger 2.7L vs 2.3L Engine Review (Acceleration & Fuel Economy)
Hey, Folks. Michael here from the front page editorial team. I spent the last week and a half driving two 2024 Ranger XLT 4x4 301A packages. The first had the base 2.3L EcoBoost, and the second had the optional 2.7L, so I wrote up a review comparing them both, including 0-60 runs and fuel economy (mostly city driving on that end) -- https://www.ford-trucks.com/articles...l-ecoboost-v6/
I'm hoping to finish up editing a video on the matter as well, which I'll add later to this thread.
Has anyone purchased and received a 2.7L yet? I know they were going to be late in terms of availability, but I'm not sure if Ford let auto journalists review them early or after the fact. If you've driven both in the Ranger or the Bronco, I'd love to hear your thoughts as well.
If you add the ford performance tune it's the same HP as the v6, but cheaper than the v6 to add. Actually I got mine on sale for $573.00. I recently found this 2022 ranger at the dealers with 13k miles on it. Coming from a 2001 F-250 v10, I was quit surprised.
Like I said, I was really surprised. Not what I expected from a 4 cylinder. next plans are for the down pipe and the turbo pipes. I doubt it will ever keep up with my 502 F-100 short bed 4x4.

We have the 2.7 L V6 in my wife's 2024 Ranger XLT FX4. Well worth the extra money in my opinion. Can not wait till it is broken in so I can really drive it.

If you haven't already tried it you will love Sport Mode.
Yes I have tried all the modes to make sure they worked. The Sport mode really puts the pony's down to the ground. I have a 2015 F150 3.5L Eco/Boost and she is in Sport mode all the time!
