I noticed that the headlight control was not lit the other day in my 96. Then I noticed that the one in my 94 (which I just got back on the road) isn't either. I took one (94) apart to replace the bulb and didn't find one. I guess I never noticed it on my 94 as the headlights are automatic. They turn themselves on and off so I didn't use the **** to turn them on.
So, my question is: Is there a light that illuminates the headlight control in the newer Aerostars? My guess is no.
My 1990 model definitely has a light behind the panel that the head light switch is mounted into. However, the switch itself doesn't have a light in it. And it's probably a different layout than your 94 and 96 models.
It is. I had a 91 before and it used a toggle type of switch. The newer ones have the "old fashoned" **** that you pull out to turn on and rotate to dim the dash lights.
At night I can't see anything in that location. I thought it rather odd that only this section of the dash has no illumination. I just wanted to confirm it.
My 95 areo has no light at the switch. Like you said the old **** pull out type. It is just an automatic motion that makes me find it at night everytime. Its like ford placed it in the right spot so when you reach for it you find it. If you know what I mean. Maybe thats why they used the big ****. so they didn't have to spend money on a light. I dunno
I have to correct what I said earlier. On the left side of my instrument panel are 4 lighted controls; 3 are rockers with built-in lights and one is a slide switch with incident lighting. The headlight switch is one of the self-lit rockers. Again, this is for a 1990 model.
Thank you all!!! I'm not nuts after all. It does seem strange that everything else is illuminated but the light switch. Maybe I should just paint mine with some "Glow in the Dark" paint.......
