Heater Core IN!!!!!but,,,
I am sure some will be glad to hear I finally got the new heater core through the fire wall. Now another question before I fasten it in. The original came with a neopreen rubber band gasket around the outside of the core box. There is no way on earth the new one will go on with the original gasket. Can I omit that supid piece of rubber? Please say yes. Or can I pack it with some other form of insulation? Thanks again in advance to all who help and hope for a quick reply, I'm almost there. !

I did a replacement with an aftermarket core that was too small to keep the gasket on. It worked okay but would rattle around in the case on rough roads. I eventually wound up replacing it with a Ford core, but otherwise, the smaller core worked fine during the time it was in there.
