Well, I spoke a bit too soon about the camera calibration. When parked in my driveway it looked great, but in a parking lot with lines you can tell the images aren't stitching together quite right. From reading online it seems like this is a problem that some solve with forscan, some have to use FDRS, some took it to the dealer. Guess I'll figure this out and report back.
No worries! I still love these mirrors and wouldn't trade them back even if I never fix this problem.
Only thing I worry about is making it worse, but I guess worst case I pay the dealer a big chunk of change to fix it.
I'll report back if I figure out something on this.
I with you on the Tow Mirrors. After having them, you never want to go back to the standard mirrors. Mine came from the factory. I'll have to check the camera to see if everything lines up. I never even looked.
I had them on my F250 all these years so I had to put them on this truck!
I called my closest Ford dealer and they had never heard of calibrating the cameras. So, I called the next closest one and they told me that they could do it at a cost of $208. They said the roads have to be clear to do this so it'll need to wait until the weather breaks. For that price I'm gonna let them try it. I'll report back after I let them give it a go.
only thing i do not like about them is they are not heated mirrors.
Are you sure yours aren't heated? Someone questioned me about that today and I decided to check and they are indeed heated! With the truck running, I turned on the rear defrost and watched the mirror temperature with an IR imager. After only two minutes, the temp went up from 35.6deg to 51.8 degrees. Even the bottom section is heated which is different than my old F250.

interesting. i will have to check now. .... but the description did not say heat, and the 2021 XLT supposedly did not have heated mirrors as an option. you had to be at least lariat to get heated mirrors.
finally parked where there was a line...sorta.. i backed in along a curb. and the line on the mirror matched the curb. when i got out i was perfect straight with the curb.
Howdy folks! Digging this one back up to update everyone. Yesterday I took my truck to the dealer and they did a "360 Camera Alignment" on it and all is well again. Its not perfect, I can kind of see the image distorting pretty far out in front of the truck, but its MUCH better than it was. It took about an hour and the cost was $147.
This also cleared the "reverse brake assist not available" error message that started popping up after I installed the mirrors.
