Throttle cable bracket

The prior owner installed a 4bbl with a "riser" plate and welded an extension on the bracket that holds the throttle cable. I had posted before and didnt get an answer about the correct/stcok heoght. So I cut the bracket and made it shorter. the cable seems to be a straight pull from the bracket to the carb but I had to pull the cable housing backward and bolt it down to get the pedal to come off the floor????? I thought the bracket mearny aligned the cable not adjusted it. I had to pull it back perty hard and the little bolt holding the cable to the bracket is under alot of pressure. I am afraid that I will be goin gdown the road and the pedal will just drop o the floor!!!

It sounds like your cable housing may be to long? Can you put a loop in the cable to relieve the stress? As long as the cable works freely and doesn't stick I'd not worry about it.
