Just doing some maintenance and after reading posts about corrosion at the fenderwell junction block I wanted to take a look at mine. Stud and nut are rusty looking, no visible corrosion on cable ends. Before I take it apart has anyone found a replacement covered junction block? I figure the plastic is going to self destruct when I attempt disassembly.
@udsuth78 Your link wouldn't work. I did find this which is a replacement for a Hummer that looks like a good replacement. As many posts and problems with this junction it's surprising there's no exact replacement.

That's a nice looking one but quite a bit larger than the original, will it fit in the location? The stud id 10mm which is .4", are the ring connectors that big? I got some nice plastic mounted ring terminal studs on Amazon for another project but they are open, no cover. Whatever you choose make sure water has a way to get out, because I can guarantee you water will get in and if it can't get out you'll be in worse shape than the original.
A bolt or butt splice and some heat shrink tubing works just fine.
that’s right make sure to insulate the bolt as well or you’ll magically have similar issues the guy had in the photo lol. there wasn’t a fuse from the factory adding one is one more piece of gear to carry might as well addd a circuit breaker at that point for reliability. My truck is the same year countless miles with a stainless bolt did have to redo the ring terminal as they were corroded.

Hey now, this deviates from the well established fact that anything worth doing is worth overdoing. It's the American way. What are you some kind of commie?

I definitely voted to loosen environmental regulations lol
although I guess when person was slapping the electric tape binding the non offset positive and negative uninsulated terminals together they felt they were over doing it and proud 😭😂🤣
I noticed that. I just wrote it off thinking they were both hots but even in that scenario that wouldn't exactly be ideal. The fireworks show that'll give will be patriotic at least.
