I bought a 1995 f350 CC 7.3 5sp
that I want to convert to 4x4 so I found a guy who delivered a 2008 f350 CC C&C to me that is 4x4 but the 6.4 is toast. I have $3000 for the 1995 and $1500 for the 2008. My plan was to swap the axles from the 2008 into my 1995 but I have since been told I should just swap my 7.3 and then cab from my 1995 to the 2008. What do you guys think? My 1995 has no rust and I want this cab. The 2008 isn't bad but I have no interest in keeping this cab. I am not worried so much about the transfer case and front driveshafts at the moment. The "true" 4x4 will come later. I want to get the bones in place right now.
The chassis of a 2008 superduty is far superior in every way to that of a 95 model.
If you’ve got the ability, tools, time and place to do the cab swap, you’d end up with a more capable truck. Both ways have their own pros and cons though.
