Swapping Cab or Axles?

I bought a 1995 f350 CC 7.3 5sp
that I want to convert to 4x4 so I found a guy who delivered a 2008 f350 CC C&C to me that is 4x4 but the 6.4 is toast. I have $3000 for the 1995 and $1500 for the 2008. My plan was to swap the axles from the 2008 into my 1995 but I have since been told I should just swap my 7.3 and then cab from my 1995 to the 2008. What do you guys think? My 1995 has no rust and I want this cab. The 2008 isn't bad but I have no interest in keeping this cab. I am not worried so much about the transfer case and front driveshafts at the moment. The "true" 4x4 will come later. I want to get the bones in place right now.

Between the 2 option you gave? I think fabbing engine/trans/body mounts is gonna be easier than trying to fit the axles under your truck. Especially if you can start with a stripped chassis. The front axle into the '96 isn't too difficult of a swap, but the C&C rear axle has a narrower spring mounting than a regular PU and I think you need to mount the springs under the 95 frame to get it to fit, which will add a few inches of lift if you use the stock springs and block. And IDK of anyone that sells hangers specifically for doing it, so you need to either need to find pre-made, universal hangers that can work, or fab your own. I don't think there's enough room to move the pads out past the frame on the C&C axle with the DRW setup. Since you're going 4x4, the lift it adds might not matter?

What I'd actually do would be to cut the front frame off the 08 just behind the trans mount so i got all the axle/suspension/steering parts and I'd keep all the wheels/tires. I'd sell everything else and buy a matching ratio rear axle out of a 2012+ DRW PU with an E-locker and the leaf springs. Then buy some of the rear swap hangers that are out there, and any brackets for the front that would make it as close to bolt in as possible.
