Swapping Cab or Axles?
that I want to convert to 4x4 so I found a guy who delivered a 2008 f350 CC C&C to me that is 4x4 but the 6.4 is toast. I have $3000 for the 1995 and $1500 for the 2008. My plan was to swap the axles from the 2008 into my 1995 but I have since been told I should just swap my 7.3 and then cab from my 1995 to the 2008. What do you guys think? My 1995 has no rust and I want this cab. The 2008 isn't bad but I have no interest in keeping this cab. I am not worried so much about the transfer case and front driveshafts at the moment. The "true" 4x4 will come later. I want to get the bones in place right now.
What I'd actually do would be to cut the front frame off the 08 just behind the trans mount so i got all the axle/suspension/steering parts and I'd keep all the wheels/tires. I'd sell everything else and buy a matching ratio rear axle out of a 2012+ DRW PU with an E-locker and the leaf springs. Then buy some of the rear swap hangers that are out there, and any brackets for the front that would make it as close to bolt in as possible.
