Dip stick help

Changed out the 460 and the oil dip stick where it goes into the pan is different. Any ideas. Maybe just a good silicone or an oring and clamp?

Please explain how it's different. A pic would help. What did the new motor come out of?

Is the dip stick removable? I'm asking because I don't see one for mine. I have a yellow handled dip stick going straight out the front, but believe that is for the Mazda 5-speed. I need to look into that. Shouldn't the dip stick be vertical, next to the oil fill?

I've got a mildly tuned 87 460 and the dip stick has never been right since they yanked the engine. I just discovered the sleeve was pinched by headers so we made a copper sleeve and now stick is much shorter and finally accurate. Its located on driver side rear of engine coming up by headers. Yellow finger grabber thing on stick.

I was looking on O'Reilly's and Summit earlier and saw they sell dipsticks and dipstick tubes. Here's a tube, says it fits an '88 for me.

There was another by Weiand with the dipstick, and you can also buy dipsticks cheap. Dorman makes an adjustable for length.

No dipstick on the M5. That's engine oil.

There's a yellow one that pulls out to the front, not vertical, and I thought that one was for the trans, it goes down and back there. In seeing the pic above, I know where to look for mine on the '88, there should be a hole and I can just get the tube and put it in with some RTV.

I was going to put synthetic ATF for manual transmissions, like Penzoil or Supermax. I thought most manuals get ATF, no??? That would have possibly been a bad mistake.

EDIT: Yeah, inside the '88 Pre-Delivery shop manual, it states MERCON.
