I just replaced the heater core and the owner before me rerouted the hoses because it wasn’t workin so I need to reconnect them to the heater core. I heard the hoses were bidirectional but just wanted to make sure. Could anyone confirm? Can’t seem to find anything online.
They (Ford) does post hose routing diagrams and there is an actual right way
That said, it really matters not
Here is a diagram for an old bronco (the only one I could find easily with the arrows)
Just know that the intake is the manifold side, and the pump side is the cold return

The wrong way will cause gurgling noises in the dash
1. Check the vehicle for proper heater hose routing. Refer to Figures 1 through 4 for the various engine applications. 2. Check the heater core outlet tube. a. This tube has a "T" fitting with a hose routed to the radiator. This hose provides a path for air trapped in the system to bleed off to the radiator. b. If the "T" is routed in the heater core inlet hose, the gas evacuation system will not function and cause a gurgling noise.

I appreciate the detailed directions I’ll have a look when the sun comes up. I can’t recall a T hose atm and I did hear gurgling noises when I installed my new blower motor.
