Interior accessory/light delay relay electrical guru question
there is a switch underneath the latch that senses when the door is open or close and provides continuity when the door is open for the done light and door lights to turn on…when it’s shut the wires lose continuity and the lights turn off…
my issue is that the actuator assemblies I got from LKQ from an F250 between 99-04 has a switch that is set up to do the opposite of what the factory ones were wired for…so when the door is shut, the switch provides continuity turning the lights on…when the door is open nothing happens…I thought about pulling out the interior fuse panel and switching the wiring for the relay to a normally open or normally closed accessory whichever applies…the only other thing I could think of was having a small switch in the storage pocket of the door panel that I could click when the door opens…
is there any other way of doing this to achieve factory operating conditions? I doubt I could just change the relay because it is a very specific relay, not your typical 4 or 5 pin….
im tempted to just leave it be and hit the interior lamp at the multi-switch when I need light at night and then turning it off when I’m done…
why would ford change the sensor and relay on different years with the same body style? Seems silly to me…
if anyone has dealt with this or can think of a solution I’m all ears!! Thanks!!
