figured I would post here before I screw something up. I’m a 20 year old kid doing quite a bit of work to my 94 460.
I replaced intake gaskets, rebuilt injectors, new timing chain and cover. Water pump, and new vacuum lines and all new belts.
The whole thing took me about a month and a half.
finally got it back I together, and it runs pretty terrible. I haven’t ran it more than a couple seconds at a time because I’m scared something will break.
when I re-installed the distributor, I put the harmonic balancer to 10 degrees btdc on the compression stroke. And reinstalled my distributor how it was to match the marks I had made before taking it apart.
does Anyone have any idea why my truck would run so bad? And any tips on what to do or where to start? Kinda new to this whole thing.
I am going to attach a video of the way it’s running. Hopefully will help you give me a starting point. Also, the truck starts right up. Is there anything else that could cause this?
I’ve never heard of placing the crankshaft at 10° BTDC and then installing the distributor. How do you know that the mark you made is still any good? There won’t be any slop in the new chain. When you installed the timing chain everything was set at 0°? That is when I would install the distributor with the rotor pointing at # 1 terminal. Once the engine was warmed up I would use a timing light to adjust the distributor (after removing the spout) to 10-12° BTDC
Yes,
when I installed the timing chain everything was set at 0degrees. I will set the crank back to 0 and have the distributor pointing at #1 terminal.
