Was driving my 09 4.6 2v. It was running perfect! Suddenly it died. When I try to restart, it starts for 1 second then dies. I have checked relay 8, fuse 27 (socket not melted), and diode 61. I also replaced the fuel pump module with no success. Im at a loss! When I turn the key to the "on" position I can hear the fuel pump kick on. Im open to any suggestions. I just dont know what to try or how to test. Please help! Ray **** I have a video but its too big for the site and I dont know how to reduce it. One thing I notice is the gas peday seems to do nothing when it starts but I hear the throttle body move when key is on and press gas pedal
Need to put a scan tool on it and see what's shaking. Running codes is only the 1st step in diag, pinpoint testing must be done else you fire the parts cannon some more.
You talking at a dealership or I have a friend with an Autel. Its a big screen one. Think that can do what I need to do? I think I can get him to scan it.

I don't have any experience with Autel scanners. I primarily use IDS, Ford's diag scanner but in a pinch I'll often use FORscan as it's free and does pretty much everything Ford's IDS does. Just need a Windows laptop or tablet and a cheap bluetooth or wired OBD/USB dongle. (Wired for programming).
I just recently paid for forscan and received the best obd2 adapter thaey offer for my laptop. To be honest, I just dont know how to use it. I plugged it in, opened the laptop, closed the laptop and havent touched it since. Do you know how to scan with forscan? How do I get it open? What tab or section do I need to be in?

I read that the ecu turns the pump on when the key is turned on and when the motor starts the crankshaft position sensor keeps it running. Anyone know it that is true?
The CKP sensor tells the PCM if the engine is rotating (not necessarily running) with key on and if not, to shut off the fuel system so in a roundabout way yes, it's true. If you have a tachometer watch it to see if it drops to nothing before the engine stops rotating, (not necessarily running) with key on.
If it does, the CKP sensor is a likely suspect and pinpoint testing should be performed. If you don't have a tach, you'll need to watch the CKP pid on your scan tool.
