Ranger Transmission Problem
I am asking this on the behalf of a friend, so I don't have all the info but it is a 94 Ranger with a 4.0. Her problem is that she'll pull out then shift into drive, it will engage and she'll drive for a bit, then she will not be able to go anywhere, it just revvs (like she's in nutural), after shifting back and forth (from park & drive), it will finally engage. Any Ideas?

Don't have a lot of facts, but it doesn't sound good.
I think it's always worth a try flushing the tranny and replacing with new ATF fluid. If that doesnt' work then he tranny is probably going to have to be taken apart and looked at.

hey, I might be compairing apples and oranges right here, but I had an old chevy truck with a turbo 350 in it that would do the same exact thing, and it turned out that the valve body had some crap in it causing it to not work right, just a thought that might help out

sounds like a bad solenoid pack in the trans. before letting anyone hack with it, get it to a tranny shop, and let them take a look at it. but i bet thats it. have seen it happen alot with the explorers recently.. Kurt
