I have stumbled across a marketplace find that I found quite interesting, there was a stage 2 KC turbo that the guy wanted 900 obo for, is anyone running this on their pickup? Do they make much of a difference?
What injectors do you have? The turbo needs to be matched with the injectors. If you have a stock truck and just add this turbo, it won’t perform well. Check out KC’s website and see what range of injectors work best with that turbo.
What size exhaust housing is on the turbo? KC website doesn't specify what size injectors you need only how big it will support. Depending on the exhaust housing this turbo would be pretty decent with good stock injectors as either one of the housings are smaller than the stock housing.
I ran a 1.0 housing with 180/0 injectors and would produce 35 psi and then some and that was with a stock turbo with a 1.0 housing and a billet compressor wheel.
I wouldn't recommend a .84 housing especially since there is no wastegate on the obs turbos, it will spool faster but will also create more heat especially if you think about the RPM range these trucks run at. most are over 2000 PRM running down the highway which is actually above factory rated peak torque.
I'm actually looking into the stage 2 turbo for my 2002 model when the time comes, so don't think I'm hating on KC turbo at all.
