Hey guys, I’m having some transmission problems with my 2017 f250 6.7 145,000 miles. Truck has been on a weight loss plan with Ampd tunes. Downshift from 5th to 4th is extremely hard. Also a little bit of flare in 6th. And occasionally 1st to 2nd is a hard shift as well. From the information I’ve gathered from this page and other pages it’s looking like a valve body issue. Would be interested to see what you guys think about the issue. Also recommendations for a Valve body leaning towards SPE but wanted to check with you guys to see if you liked anything else better? Thanks in advance.
I'd start simple. Have you changed the trans filter? Most people neglect proper transmission maintenance. I don't care that the manual says you can go 150k. 150k is a LONG time on fluids.
If so, then I'd go to valve body next. 2017 trucks had a lot of valve body issues for some reason.
Third I'd load the STOCK transmission tuning and a 40 HP or less engine tune. AMPD will allow this, I verified with them a few weeks back that their stock transmission file is indeed a Ford OE transmission file.
