rebuilt c4, now problems
i just recently got a c4 rebuilt that i got from a junkyard. it sat for about a month before i put it in, now i shifts erratically, will not shift at full throttle, sometime shifts from 1st to 3rd, sometimes wont shift into 3rd, 2nd feels like it's sliping and sometimes when i put it in 1st gear it locks up. could there be a leak in the valve body or maybe a very poor rebuild job.

2 things that could've cause erratic shift like you describe.
(1) valve body.
(2) governor.
was the valve body and governor thoroughly clean and inspected? A junk yard transmission can easily accumulate a lot of dirt and moisture. That could've cause sticking valves, sticking governor and rusts build up.
Check these 2 items first before proceeding.
