Replaced all the boots, springs and pills today...then thought I'd rev her up a bit to see how she runs.
Apparently, I cannot run it over 3000 RPM while standing still...did I mess up or is this a safety measure? If it is a safety thing, how do I bypass it to see how she'll run up at 4000 and beyond?
Depending on the motor, MOST newer vehicles have a safety to prevent them from over-revving when in park or neutral. If you rev it up too high with zero load, mechanical components just don't like that and funny things tend to start happening.
If you want to see how it runs at 4k and above, put it in gear and go for a drive. Though under normal driving you shouldn't really be seeing 4k+ RPMs that often, that range is usually reserved for the track or while towing/hauling a heavy load.
