Trans longevity?
I know this is a very subjective question but what the heck. I have a 99 CC 4x4 V10 auto. 153K miles. Past use was hauling a camper and flat towing a jeep. Were considering a move to the mid west. This will include at least 3 round trips of 3000 each hauling a stock trailer, a 20' cargo, and finally a Jeep in the last trip. Having a trans flame out on the road is not an option. First time I flushed it my stomach sank as the fluid looked like crap. 2 years later and some 20K miles it still works fine. I'm actually considering a rebuild before we do this move because as they say, its not if it fails, its when it fails. Your opinions. Fire away.

They last, what I think to be, an incredibly long time even when neglected. Just about all of them will last 150+k miles without ever having the fluid change (this is not a recommendation, just an observation), and plenty of transmissions will last the lives of the trucks when taken care of. That means 3, 400k+ miles. If you change the fluid regularly now, and see no problems at change time, don't waste your time giving it *any* thought in regard to a rebuild..
