one brake light doesn't work - everything else does

On my 70 F100, the left rear brake light stopped working. The bulb is good, and both rear turn signals and taillights work. I'm having a hard time tracking down where the problem may be.
I have recently replaced the turn signal switch ( I don't know if this is related)

Any suggestions from those who've had similar problems?

Thanks,
Jeff

It is in your turn signal switch Jeff. I just can't explain why at this moment in time.

Just before I found FTE, I replaced my turnsignal with one of those cheap "Help" turn signals (I wish it had been cheap, had to buy two to get one to fit). I lost ALL brake lights and still have no turn signal. The only problem I can narrow it down to is the steering column/turn signal/hazard light area. First thing I read when I got here is "don't buy the el cheapo turn signals". I guess when I get the time/money I will get over to Ford and buy the right parts. Lesson Learned.

Good thing is that I did spend some quality time today with my son showing him how to use a multi-meter, soldering gun and liquid tape as we trouble shot and fixed on the old Ford.

I will recheck the pin block connector for the turn signal switch. This was apart when I put a new shift collar in the truck. I had replaced my original broken switch with one out of a junkyard as the switches from the restoration outfits were kind of pricey.
Maybe I'll just go ahead and buy a new one though

The 1970 F100 is the one odd-man-out for alot of parts.

It takes the one "special" turn signal switch. They all have the same amount of wires, but one is different color. If you hook it one way, you have no back left turn, the other way gets no right front turn. Been there. Spent like $70 at dealer to get correct switch.

Headlight buckets are another odd part. The ones from 67-69 and 71-72 are the same. 1970 uses the larger "louisville" headlight bucket. They are basically upsidedown versions. Don't ask me why. Tried to replace ones on my 70 and the headlights only fit upsiden down??? That is when I found out only like F700 and larger use that same bucket.
