With winter just around the corner I finally decided to tackle the rats nest of wiring from PO and do the high idle mod today and after 2 hours or so and a few curse words it's done and I feel like I've finally accomplished something on this truck that wasn't an absolute nightmare from start to finish lol.
Nice to flip the switch and get the windows defrosted a little quicker or get the oil thinner if you have stiction. Cheap and easy mod, probably the first one I did when I got my truck.
Another easy one is the fan switch. Just about as easy and useful if needed.

Winter here can get to and hold at -40c for days on end so did the mod to warm the truck up faster mainly. Funny enough the last 2 years the AC system has had zero Freon in the system and the windows were never foggy once lol.
This mod should also be step one for the coolant flush. It’s been discussed for years, but really comes in handy to warm the block faster and circulate coolant.

I'm thinking you mean that when running hose water through the system during a flush procedure the high idle should be set to aid in clearing everything out? Am I understand that correctly?

For every step with the exception of the VC-9. I left that in the block for a couple hundred miles. Once the old AF color was gone I moved from tap water to distilled. The high idle mod heats up the block faster and helps circulate without leaving the driveway. It truly saved me some time.

Luckily I'm not needing a coolant flush so the high idle mod will just be for warming up faster and for when I install a DC to DC charger in my truck camper and need to charge the batteries on non solar days.
