CONVERTING TO AUTO
My 1962 F250 4x4 is in great shape overall with a strong 292 Y block backed by a 4 speed. I get tired of shifting due to a left leg prosthesis so I would like to convert to an auto tranny. A C4 with an adapter would bolt up to the motor with no problem and I would need a new trans crossmember since the 4 speed tranny used the bellhousing side mounts which I can't. I think the overall length of the Y block and C4 will still be short enough to couple to the T case short shaft so what i need to know is any other issues I might face with my project such as: case fill or pan fill C4, T case shifter linkage, tranny linkage, etc......Bob

The current setup uses a single point mount on the front of the engine and side mounts on the bellhousing. If you do away with the bellhousing mounts and go with a tail mount on the C4 you need to have side mounts on the engine.
