I have a 2006 f150 with the 5.4 triton (yeah I know I don't wanna hear it) I went through heavy rain and my truck started to die on me didn't shut off but my dash lights were going in and out my immediate thoughts were to check grounds battery and alternator I got a new battery thought it fixed the problem but it started doing it again less than 4 hours later got it home went and got an alternator again didn't solve the issue and now the truck won't start at all no matter what I do and my shifter is stuck in place I checked all the grounds all were fine except the fuse box ground I replaced the grounds and reconnected them to the body just above the old placement again nothing is working I have no idea what else to check please somebody help me I go back to work Monday the 7th and I need my truck
I would check the condition of your Fuel Pump Driver Module (FPDM) located underneath your spare tire, mounted to the frame.
They are known to corrode and short out and cause all kinds of drive ability issues. also check the ground wire from that plug harness. heavy rain or running through large puddles will initiate these problems due to the backside of the module being cracked open. It needs to be removed to inspect it. new style comes with stand offs to prevent this.
