I have a Cornwell digital torque wrench that I have lost the screw for the battery cover. I called Corwell and they tell me that torque wrench has been discontinued since 2009 and they have zero information on it other than the item number I gave them and that its manufactured by CDI Torque Wrenches. When I called CDI, they told me they never made or make anything for Cornwell. When I called Cornwell back to verify, she told me CDI made a limited batch of these torque wrenched. I also spoke with a Cornwell tool truck owner and he has no information on his end.
I have been to a hardware store and a specialty bolt/nut place. Neither place has anything that small, nor do they have anything to tell me the thread and pitch so I could order online.
I called the repair place for CDI and automated recording tells me to leave a message, they are receiving higher than normal call volume......we all know how that "leave a message and we will call you back" goes.
The Cornwell Number is CTW-1002ETW and on the back is these number laser eteched 0707400021
Anybody happen to have a connection to somebody that could get me an old parts diagram with information with the screw or anybody have this torque wrench that could tell me the thread pitch and length.
Any big parts store has a help section, start checking size, without a picture of it next to something of known size, I would guess start with a 10-24, or 10-32, then a #8, #6 #4 until you found it, or if your not building rockets put 2 wraps of tape around it where cover is...find something harder to worry about.
Another thought: No idea how small you are looking for, but maybe try an eye-glass repair kit.
They usually have an assortment of ridiculously small screws.
