I installed a battery and the put red on positive and black on negative. It turns out the mechanic my dad had work on it last replaced the cables with what he had left over I guess he swapped the colors. I have replaced the three modules by the battery because one of them smoked.
Key will turn on the dash but will not crank or do anything else can turn the engine at the solenoid but will not generate spark. Any help or insite is greatly appreciated
Can you post up a picture or 2 of the 3 units you changed so we know what they are as I cant think i what they are?
It will also show if you got the wiring right as some have got wires mixed up.
Also check all the fuseable links as they are known to burn up when the battery is hooked up backwards.
Is the truck manual or auto transmission? If auto maybe the NSS also took a hit / burned?

See those slender rubber things in the smaller wires? That is what usually burns up when the battery is hooked backwards. They are fusible links and they power all the circuits in the truck. You may have one, two or several depending on the options ordered with your truck.
Check those fusible links as mentioned above. You should also check out the wiring near the passenger's fender. My truck failed to start in the past (didn't even have horn or lights) and it was just a connector that had burnt down.
