You know, as many times as I have seen that auto hubs are crap you would think someone would create an auto locking hub replacement that is more in line with the quality of Warn!! Where on the rear axle is the coding number that would let you know where or not your rear end is a factory posi?
on the steel tag attached to the bolts holding the rear cover on, is a series of numbers. The first 3, or 4 characters on the second line will tell you. what should apear is a number, and then either a blank or an L, and then two more numbers .. for example
3 55
or
3L55
the L indicated locker, or trac loc, fords limited slip unit.
FYI, u can replace the auto hubs on any bronco with warn, superwinch, or milemarker maual hubs for a dana 44
I think the only auto hubs that are tough like warns manuals, are what is on the new superdutys, of coarse, if they ever fail you can just get out and lock them in manualy. That is good thinkin, if I say so. I don't see GM making any way to lock the hubs for when theres go out, and they do go out very oftem.
maybe if you had a dana 60 front end, not sure if new hubs will fit on older dana 60. Definatly will not fit on a dana 44. Those hubs are cool though. Only thing i would still be worried about is them hanging up and not disengauging, like the old regular autos do. With any luck I will be buying a 350 in march or so after tax refund, so i may find out what it takes to break em.
Were any of the superduty trucks made with independent front suspensions though? It would be frustrating if someone also had to fit in a solid front axle just to get a stronger set of automatic locking hubs!!
