I had the same problem with my wife's 97 F150. After my wife's truck died a few times at the light with such a low idle, I called a Lexus mechanic friend. He told me that my idle sensor had to be reset. I un-hooked my battery for 15 minutes, then re-connected it. Drove the truck for 15 miles, now it idles the same as my 2000 F150. Never a problem since. He said you must drive it 10 to 15 miles and he was right...Good luck.
well...... i tried what you said Juant2, and well it made it 5 times worse, now in drive comming up to a stop light it drops ti 200-300 and in park it is only at 500. so i guess i will take it in to the shop tomorrow and replace the egr and dpfe
well i went by a mechanic and he cleande the throtle body and that got it beck to the way it was, then i replace the dpfe sensor, and it runs smoother, but not faster, talked to a ford tech, said it was probably my tach was off, or 3 other problems, after the new year i will probably take it in.
