My '92 2.3L Ranger is having intermittent problems. The only thing that seem consistent is the 222 trouble code. If I clear the codes, drive it and test it again sometimes it goes away but then it comes back later. I also have a lot of trouble with it stalling out, usually between 1-2 or 2-3 shifts, but sometimes cruising in 5th. I also have troubles getting it started when it is cold.
Recently I replaced the plugs and wires and had the resistance in the coils tested. Today I replaced the ignition module (not cheap). I still am having some stalling problems. It feels like fuel at times but the code points to ignition.
Any thoughts on the problem? I am about out of ideas!! Thanks.
