Installing a newer transfer case shifter into my bullnose. I know the automatic transmission and manual transmission trucks had different transfer case shifter rod lengths, but I don't know what the lengths are. Can someone tell me?
I pulled one from a junkyard a year ago and don't remember what truck I pulled it from.
My 1996 351/E4OD is 9” eye to eye. That shift mechanism looks the same as my ‘96 as well.
You could still buy the plastic grommets for the linkage somewhere just a few yrs ago. I can’t remember where - torque king, or JBG.. in case you’re looking for one.

Can someone with a small block ZF5 post their measurement? I found another rod in the parts stash that's 8.75 between holes. Also, I have a BW 1356 for future reference.
This is an interesting question, because I've done dozens of swaps/builds on these trucks and I have had to cut/modify/junkyard-run that stamped linkage, to my befuddlement, when the linkage I had came from the same "configuration" as what I was installing. One of the part number guru's will have a better answer to this, or I'm crazy, but ford must have used a different shifter or something along the way.
Long story short: place the shifter and transfer case in a particular, corresponding position, and measure from eye to eye and go from there.
