I do not recommend taking it apart yourself. Guys who are experienced wrench spinners come on here from time to time after the DIY transmission rebuild and ask why it won't work.
Is the major leak at the tailshaft and the pan gasket?
If you fixed those two would it be tolerable?
The tailshaft seal requires a "T" shaped tool to pop it out. Pan gasket just a little patience and clean up.
The main leak is the rear main and the pan. But it also leaks out of the linkage I believe. I rebuilt the motor I just don't know to much about the transmission.
If you already rebuilt the engine, you have the knowledge needed to re-seal the trans. Yes its not easy but doable. Sounds like the input shaft seal to the torque converter is bad, also doing the output shaft seal and pan gasket will reduce the leakage significantly. Look on youtube for videos, they can be very helpful. As for what trans you have the 1967 it depends on what engine you have. is it a 6 cylinder or an 8 cylinder? Can you get some pictures? Is it the original engine?
OK, then the trans is either an FMX or a C6. You just need to see which one it is and go from there. Engine looks good so I have confidence you can do the seals on the trans with no problem!
I have a 360 motor that i just rebuild and i realized that it doesn't have the cooling lines that go from the transmission to the block. The transmission is a FMX 3 speed auto i believe. Is there a way to re route the cooling lines or should i just swap a c6 into there. If swapping the tranny is a better option what does that process look like. Any help is much appreciated in over my head a little bit.
