I have a '94 F250 with 7.5 L E4OD that is still shifting hard, so I'm thinking I need a ECM but am having problem understanding what me "calibration code" is. Here is the door sticker..Can someone tell me what ECM I need ?
Answer Blurry's question though before doing anything rash.
OK, checked the dipstick and found the fluid is red and up to between the holes in the stick and below the hash marks, with the temp just warming up. Then used the code reader and got 111, 10, 128, 452, 556. and the OD OFF light is off constant.
I'm confused, do the trans codes come out of the computer thru the reader or thru the OD light ?
128: MAP vacuum has not been changing – check vacuum lines
452: Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) problem
I'd start troubleshooting the reason these codes are present.
With a speed sensor code, the trans will hunt for shift
Your processor will not know road speed, and the trans will shift hard and at the wrong times
Your processor should have a LZJ tag, it's best to remove your processor and verify the numbers
When I replaced my processor for an intermittent engine miss concern, my trans started shifting better
Make sure the wiring to the connector is good before replacing your VSS
Those wires like to break right at the connector
Replace with a Motorcraft VSS if you need a new one
If you have a NGS you can read that VSS pid on your 1994
