Odd jolting through steering wheel

2024 F250 XLT stock 1000 miles

On a recent 100 mile trip I noticed an odd jolting through the steering wheel. It's slight, and will happen on exceleration and braking, and sometimes when going through corners.

I actually stopped and pulled over at one point to make sure the wheels weren't loose.
Something is definitely not tight.

If I can't figure it out, it will be going to the dealer.
Anyone have any ideas what it could be?

Does it occur only when you veer over the lane markings? I'm wondering if it's the lane-keeping reminder you feel.

Feel like a clunk in the steering wheel? The sector shaft is the culprit. It is part of the collapsing steering wheel safety mechanism. It makes it feel like a bad ball joint, but what it is, is when the suspension moves, so does the sector since the body, frame and suspension all have some flex to it. Usually it is because it is dry and could use some lube. Part #4.

Would like to first know what to look for.

No, nothing like that. Don't have that installed anyways.

Cheers, will definitely check that out!
(Still on the trip...back later today.....)
Added: this will be the culprit. Thanks for mentioning this.
I used high-temp spray paint on the exhaust manifold and also on the shaft, so this looks like it was completely my fault: I likely stuck the thing together with spray paint!

That 2024 XLT didn't come with lane keeping wheel shaker?

My 2022 XL did. I thought that was standard on most all trims now.

If you're use to vehicle with independent front suspension, then going to a solid front axle will feel different.

Solid front axles will transfer a direct impact from one side to the another. So hitting a bump during accel or braking while turning and you feel it through the steering wheel.

Hope it was Ford oem paint you'll void the warranty on sprayed parts.

Just trying get a clear understanding on this.

Rust/corrosion proofing.
I do similar stuff on all new equipment.
...just was a bit overzealous on the sector shaft in this particular instance though, it appears!

(And not resolved yet...I am not at the same location as the truck for another week or so...)

Update:

The problem was fixed a while back. Removed the sector shaft and greased it up, and reassembled it. Did a 600 mile round trip, and no more 'jolting' or 'clunking' through the steering wheel.

Thanks @acdii for the help.

Pic shows the attachment bolt of the sector shaft already removed:

How and what did you actually grease?

IIRC the shaft is removed at the u-joint, then pulled apart, the section in the pic with the grooves is the two piece shaft, and that is the part that gets greased.

The U-Joint itself isn't greased; that's not the culprit.

Lets try this second picture...I hope I can explain it properly:

Parts 1 and 3 remain attached to the vehicle, part 2 is what is slid off part 1 'downwards' and is then removed by pulling it out of part 3 upwards.
The grease goes onto the now-exposed shaft of part 3.
