LOL I tend to try to bond with my truck parts before installing them. I find it makes for a more reliable vehicle and its more forgiving when i inevitably do stupid things.
Anyways, i removed the original side tank on my 86 F250 last night. It was relatively painless thanks to FTE and some youtube videos...except for the three bolts holding the filler tube flange in place. 5.5MM? Really?
I also wanted to ask the peanut gallery about what i thought was a pretty severe bend in the filler tube as it goes from horizontal to vertical and then into the tank. It was resting on a piece of the truck (crossmember)?. Sorry, in my haste i didnt take a pic. What i do have is a pic of the tank out of the truck with an arrow at the bend. Has anyone who has done this job seen this tight bend and can confirm? All signs point to this being the factory install. I've never had an issue fueling up so I am leaning towards just re-installing.
