In the process of pulling the C6 transmission out of my ‘71 F-250 with a 360. I’ve removed a total of 6 bell housing bolts or so I thought…. I removed one that goes through the trans dipstick, but there appears to be a sheered off bolt to the upper left of it. Having trouble breaking the trans loose from the passenger side. Is this really a sheered off bell housing bolt?!
If all 6 bell housing bolts and the 4 converter nuts are removed then what you are looking at is a dowel pin, sometime they get rusted to the bell housing. Try putting 2 of the bottom bolts back in a few turns and wiggle the transmission around to break the dowel pin loose. I hope you are using a transmission jack.
