Hey everyone, just brought home my first power stroke and was wondering about any possible things i could do to make the power better,
i plan on using it for some towing but mostly hauling stuff on the flatbed. I don’t want to be stuck with no power though if i decided to throw 11k on a trailer behind it. I live in a pretty hilly environment
If it is all original, it still has the restrictive flat down pipe on it. Get rid of it and replace it with a 3" Diamond Eye pipe. That and a 3316 air filter mod are the 2 best bang for your buck you can do. If sensors go bad, remember Motorcraft or International are the ones to use, as parts house sensors do not play nice with these engines. Riff Raff Diesel is a good place for parts for these old engines. With 93K on the clock, you have found a diamond in the ruff. Welcome to the club!
After you get it breathing better as mentioned before the next item should be a PHP Hydra chip, $300 and you can install yourself and also make sure your up pipes are not leaking.
You can put a ton of money into these things. As I have, but the most noticeable power gaining upgrades for me was the chip but intake and exhaust is cheap and fundamental in performance. Following the chip in performance increase is upgraded injectors but that when you start spending big money. And other items go along with the injectors to compliment the injectors such as turbo, e-fuel, hpop and by then you wife is giving you the side eye. Lol

Luckily I don’t have a significant other to give me the side eye, if i did i probably wouldn’t have 3 OBS haha.
The hydra chip sounds interesting. I’ll look into it, thank you

My bad, it is a 6637, I had a brain fart. Donaldson Blue® 6637 Filter (RDPFILTER-BLUE) (riffraffdiesel.com)
You remove the stock air box/filter and use the 6637 in it's place, connected to the stock air tube with a 4" 45 degree exhaust elbow, or a 3" PVC 45 degree elbow. It lets the engine breath easier.
