97 power stroke question?

hello. i am thinking about buying a 97 7.3 power sroke and it has 300000 mi .is this truck still have any depenability left in it if it was all hiway miles? rebuilt e4od is what they say, thanks for any help, i know very little about power srokes.

highway miles means nothign unless it was well maintained. thats the key. i am at 265k and still going strong.

x2. mine has always been kept up to par and i run the hell out of her everyday. no knock either and besides my fing boots needing replaced nothing is going wrong with it. knock on would still original trans at 202*** miles

I would ask some questions about the rebuilt tranny. A proper rebuild will run around $2500.00, more if you go with a good aftermarket torque converter. When I bought my 97, I was told the same thing. Found out they dropped the tranny and replaced a few parts, but ignored a lot of other stuff. These ain't cheap to rebuild, that's why I ask.
