2000 Excursion Heads on 1998 E-350 V10
Original engine had a rod bearing failure.
Bought Ford reman long-block and installed myself.
At 2.5 years through the 3 year warranty this engine developed an external coolant leak in the driver's head. Ford refused to honor the warranty because "your invoice did not have a VIN listed". After fighting them for months with both dealer and Ford pointing fingers at each other I gave up.
Needed to get this van back on the road so I bought a pair of used cylinder heads from a low-mileage 2000 Excursion. Engine out, swapped heads, engine back in.
I am now at the point of installing the intake manifold and realizing that the difference in head design may be a problem...
The heads from the Excursion have a roughly square shape while the old heads from the E-350 and the intake manifold that I'm trying to use from the E-350 have a roughly circular shape.
I am hoping that there is enough material on the E-350 intake manifold that with a set of square port 2000 gaskets I can make the two mate up and work.
Has anyone ever successfully made this combo work?
I'm attempting to leave on a 900 mile family camping trip pulling a trailer on Saturday!
