1993 F150, 5.0L: Having a issue with the air/smog pump making noises and it needs to go. I have read on this forum in the past that you can purchase a shorter serpentine belt and not run the air pump. Can someone please tell me what belt I would need and can I get by without removing the air pump and related plumping? I'm in a bit of a rush as I am moving in 10 days and don't have time to find and wait for a new pump. Also I have far too much to do to be messing with a smog pump at this time. Thanks
Do you have a pic of the current accessory drive? Around '93/4 the drive layout changed and I never recall the exact cut off.
My '88 302 has the Mustang style accessory drive, which is the '87-93 I guess. Anyway, I just ran the belt from the alt to the crank pulley. Length would not really help as I have an underdrive kit and a Saginaw. Stock was what, 91"? I think I had an 88" for a while then an 85", this is going back near 20 years of memory.
Scndsin: I have seen a couple of youtube vids that tlal about this type of delete but I would like to hear something from this forum before I jump. Thanks for the input.
