96 e150 e4od replacement transmission dipstick

Where can I find a replacement dipstick for my 96 e150? It has the 5.8l and e4od tranmission.

I noticed something was weird when I replaced the transmission pan gasket. I didn't see the dipstick coming through to the pan. Furthermore, I drained 10quarts from just dropping the pan and not even draining the torque converter. All the resources online tell me it takes about 6.5 quarts after draining the pan.

For giggles, I wanted to see how far the current dipstick actually reached.

It's about 8inches short of even touching the pan.

This is one of many hack jobs I've found on this van.. I guess they said, "A dipstick is a dipstick, forget the length".

So I need to source a replacement dipstick. And/Or if someone can measure theirs with the same setup and tell me the specs, I could probably make my own.

Any advice is welcome.

On the internet everyone says the correct fluid level is flush with where the pan meets the trans.

After hearing this, I had the idea of removing the dipstick tube, sticking something inside the tube that is longer and getting a rough estimate of length for a diy dipstick.

I don't think this is correct because I found a video of my transmission and I can see his dipstick going down into the pan

But this screenshot of the video throws that idea out the window.

Mine is a 94 with a E40D and should have the same stick

Awesome! Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me the measurements for the cold and hot lines from end of stick? I searched 20 junkyards within 200 miles from me, so it may be a while before I can get my hands on a replacement.

Scroll down a page or so and you'll see used ones of different lengths:

Cool beans. I found someone with my exact setup and theirs goes 54 3/4. The closest one I found on there is 54 1/4. But I'll keep checking periodically. I can make my own for the time being, just waiting on kind strangers to send me the hot and cold marks
But looking at those pictures on ebay looks like most the sticks start the cold line a half inch from the bottom and extend an inch. So I may be ready to build my own

I've made a concoction. Heh. Don't laugh too hard. It works until I can source a replacement. Stress tested the connection too, it won't come apart with full strength.

I took my van over to my shop and cannot measure the hot and cold marks, maybe I can get over there tomorrow and measure those
Right, those marks are only about an inch apart
