naw u wont have to pay someone to find it for u. just take off the cap and rotor and ull see it. its right under the rotor. look around the stator (star) and in b/t the stator and the staft ull see a tiny rollpin thats wedged in b/t to hold it tight. hope that helps.

to check the pickup coil get a volt-ohm meter use the AC scale hook the pos lead to the purple wire the neg to the orange wire at the distributor plug have swomeone crank the engine you should get a voltage reading a .3 -.5 volts AC( thats the signal that tells the box to fire the plugs) switch to the ohm scale it should read 70,000 ohms then ground the neg lead to the distributor body orange wire and purple wire should read 400,000 ohms the black wire should read 0 ohms to ground plug if you got all these readings then pickup coil is good plugin the wiring go to your fender the module will have the same color wiring god knows what the wiring harness colors will be but using the module for referance do the test on the purple and orange wires for voltage signal and on the black wie for ground the white wire from the truck harnes to the module should have 12 voltsDC when cranking the red wire should have btwn 7-8 volts DC with the key in the run position the green wire on truck harness to the module should read 0 ohms to the tach wire at the coil the pos wire on the coil should read 12 volts DC during cranking 7-8 volts DC key in the run position hope this helps

Just a thought, might crank engine with dist.cap off and see if rotor is turning, and if it is turn over to #1 and then check and see if piston is up on compression stroke, this will solve the 180 degree possibility.

My thoughts too. If we're talking engine swap, the distributer may have been R&R'd and replaced 180 out. I think I mentioned this earlier. Of course I also metioned points! Duh, my bust, NO POINTS in that year. I get picturing my truck when trying to diagnos others.
